Book Review of The Night Circus

Book Review of The Night Circus

I spent the night at the circus...

Today’s post is a short book review of a book I just finished reading.

This month for book club, we read the book “The Night Circus” by Erin Morgenstern, and like the characters in the book, I stayed up all night reading it – I could not put it down. It has been so long since I have read a book that has had me riveted and literally staying up at night to read just to see what happens next.

The book also snuck up on me with no warning - all of a sudden I was hooked, feeling as if I was immersed in the very world that she had created. Erin Morgenstern paints an entirely lifelike world in the circus, so much so that I almost felt as if I could smell the caramel corn, and the background din of a crowd of spectators at the circus filled my room as I read. At one stage, I got up from reading to go to another room, and I wasn’t even sure where I was! What a well written story which drew me in and kept me until the very end. The characters were relate-able, and even thought the story was set over 100 years ago, I could almost imagine running into one of them on the streets of London today. I won’t give away any of the story, but I would definitely give this book top marks, and I am now frantically searching to see if she has written anything else, and keeping my eyes peeled for when she writes again.

5 stars for the Night Circus. Definitely read it if you can.

Big love from a small island

Ps I have done a lot of serious reading and writing over the past few days, so this was a welcome break from both!

Pps one of the central anchors in the book is a clock, so I thought the above photo that I took recently would be fitting
